Fleas and worms are the most common parasites that affect our cats and dogs. While both can develop into full-blown infestations which can cause our pets and us to become distressed, they can also be easily controlled and prevented with the right treatment, and by sticking to a regular flea and worming routine from the moment your pet first comes home.
Protect your pet from Fleas and Ticks
An adult cat or dog should be treated for fleas regularly. Beginning this regime the moment your pet comes home increases the chances of preventing your pet and your home becoming infested with fleas.
Beaphar FIPROtec® Spot-On is a vet strength medicine that kills fleas and ticks on cats and dogs, and is effective for up to four weeks. Containing Fipronil, a well-known and effective ingredient, Beaphar FIPROtec® kills through contact not via the bloodstream. This means that a flea or tick does not have to bite your pet for it to be effective, reducing the spread of harmful diseases.
Did you know, 95% of a flea infestation is in the home? Only 5% is on your pet.
If your pet does become infested with fleas, using an on-animal treatment will not solve the problem – the only way to truly get on top of a flea infestation is to treat your home as well as your pet.
With central heating creating the ideal flea breeding conditions all year round, it is imperative you protect your home AND your pet.
Beaphar’s Household Flea Range includes products which combine Insect Growth Regulators (IGRs) with insecticides, so you can kill adult fleas and break the flea lifecycle, stopping a full-blown flea infestation in its tracks.
To prevent a flea infestation in the home, we recommend Beaphar Extra Long Lasting Household Flea Spray, which contains IGRs and is effective for up to six months.
To treat an existing flea problem in the home, choose Beaphar Defest or Beaphar Home Flea Spray.
We recommend you vacuum regularly, particularly before using a household flea treatment, to encourage flea pupae to hatch. Fleas are protected from insecticides in their pupal state, so by encouraging them to hatch you can reduce the time it takes to get rid of an infestation.
Did you know, some types of tapeworm can be spread by fleas?
An adult cat or dog should be wormed at least every three months to protect them against worms. If you haven’t been sticking to a regular worming routine and your pet gets fleas, there is a chance they may become infected with worms.
Beaphar WORMclear® is a vet strength wormer which kills roundworms and tapeworms in one simple dose, and is available from your local pet shop. Worming your pet at least every three months will help keep the number of worm eggs in the environment down, keeping your pet and family protected from these harmful parasites.
